I promote thoughtprovoking concepts that reframe the way people and organisations relate to their environment, helping them toward new insights and solutions.

What I Do

I'm currently working as UX Design Lead at Nationale-Nederlanden.

I am dedicated to instilling a service design mindset throughout our organization and senior management, ultimately enhancing our omnichannel interactions with customers. My mission is to propel our service design capabilities to new heights. This involves crafting a compelling vision for the future, establishing clear progression frameworks, and providing guidance to our teams in adopting a customer centric approach.

I empower businesses with the latest in service design thinking, turning creativity and collaboration into core competencies.

Through hands-on coaching and workshops, I inspire teams to push past traditional boundaries and embrace innovative practices, leading to the creation of exceptional, customer-centric services that stand out in the marketplace. Read more...

I have strong foundation in UX Design and a deep understanding of the Design Processes. I have experience (leading) every stage of the strategic design process, from research and ideation through to iteration and optimization.

I oversee and train teams of product designers and strategists, providing individual performance management while building design practices that attract and retain talent. Read more...

    The Oratio Hominus Digitalis

I have writen a design manifesto by which I tend to operate...

The Oratio de hominis dignitate (Oration on the Dignity of Man) is the never-held speech by Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (1463–1494). Although it was banned by the Catholic Church at the time, it is his most famous work posthumously. The work can be seen as one of the first humanist manifestos in Europe. Both Mirandola and his Oration have fallen into oblivion over the years. That is a pity because human dignity is still at stake every day. Maybe it's time to dust off Mirandola and give it a more modern look. Mielwerk brings you the Oratio de Hominis Digitalis (Oration on the Digitality of Man).

    Digital Ground

Okay, this might be a bit of a long read but considering all the fuzz about the Metaverse it might be worth reading.

What’s missing in the World of Tomorrow, or its latter-day counterpart in cyberspace, the Metaverse or anytime-anyplace version of ubiquitous computing, is the world itself. Homo Faber has an Achilles’ heel; his artifice cuts him off from his nature.

I propose we take a philosophical view on the matter and Design for Dasein

    Service & Innovation Design Module

Over the past years me and my team at HAN University of Applied Sciences have been working on a design program that fitted the needs of our professional workfield. We have created a holistic program in wich we invite our participants to identify opportunities and create new uses for technology - but more importantly, to humanize technology - by creating meaningful, pragmatic and socially relevant concepts.
